Over the last two decades I’ve directed, series directed, series produced and filmed more than 50 hours of successful factual television for all the major broadcasters. I’ve won a BAFTA, an RTS and a Broadcast Award, and I’ve been shortlisted for a Grierson.
I’m a creative and highly organised programme-maker, as comfortable running a team and taking a big-picture editorial view as I am crafting and shooting my own films. My work has required me to nurture and sustain hugely sensitive contributor relationships (The Accused), maintain deep access at the heart of major institutions (Inside the Portland; Britain's Biggest Primary School), and find compelling human stories in everyday life (The Crane Gang; The Railway: Keeping Britain On Track).
As well as observational documentary, formats and popular docs have been a big part of my career. Be it spending a year with Gareth Malone for The Choir: Boys Don't Sing, or making Secret Millionaire, I've found constructed projects a fantastic way to tell inspirational and moving stories.
